Police dog retires after 9 years on Greenfield force July 15, 2004 Journal-Sentinel
The Greenfield Police Department quietly said goodbye to one of its own last week as Lazer, one of the
department’s K-9 officers, was retired.
He is now living with Officer John West, who has been his partner since joining the force.
Greenfield Police Chief Francis Springob said last week that Lazer, who had
been with the department for almost nine years, had to be retired due to health reasons.
During his time with the department, Lazer was repeatedly recognized for
criminal apprehensions and evidence locations, as well as numerous K-9 competitions. Springob also said that Lazer had been recognized for work in schools, retirement communities and other presentations.
