No one is confronted with more situations that demoralize and create emotional, mental and spiritual burdens than
today’s law enforcement officer. These burdens also affect the officer’s family and other members. Law enforcement agencies need the specialized guidance, counseling and assistance law
enforcement chaplains can offer.

The Police Chaplain Program was created to assist officers in their duties when encountering a subject in need of
comfort. As specialized as the officers’ training may be, the support and grief counseling a chaplain brings is greatly appreciated by those in need. Because of the nature of the information
received in personal counseling, law enforcement chaplains will maintain strict clergy privilege in these matters.
